Day One of $10K Philadelphia has ended and the Top 8 has been assembled. Although there aren't any really well known names here, a number of local stars are represented. The diversity of this Top 8 is a welcome relief from the dominance of Curve Sentinels in recent months. It was suspected that
Green Lantern might only make a small difference, but as it turned out, the combination of the new set and an anti-Sentinel metagame has heralded what looks like a very healthy environment.
On the other side of the coin, we have the new Dr. Light deck, which is clearly
the deck of the tournament. Players have been bemoaning lightning-fast losses since the beginning of the day, but others have said that a lack of familiarity with the deck is the factor most responsible for its dominance. Can a deck that plays
Rama-Tut really be the unstoppable behemoth it appears to be, or is this just beginner's luck? Only time will tell, and the first true test for the deck will be tomorrow's Top 8. Stay tuned to
Metagame.com for all the action, and find out who comes out on top!
