The top tables have been yielding nothing but Good Guys and Deep Green, so I went a little further down in the standings to pick the feature match for this round. Adam Ward is from Raleigh, North Carolina. John Powell is from Charlottesville, Virginia, and I’m covering this match because I’ve been told he’s playing a very interesting deck. John won the die roll and took evens.

Both players kept their openers, and neither had a 1-drop. Both missed on turn 2 as well, and Adam had the first play of the game with Enemy of My Enemy for a third-turn Ahmed Samsarra. Ahmed got Knight Armor, and Adam passed. John recruited Dr. Light, Master of Holograms and played The Ring Has Chosen for Beetle, Armorsmith. He brought Beetle back into play and discarded Changeling to search for Detective Chimp, Bobo T. Chimpanzee. Ahmed attacked Beetle, and John took 6. He chose not to recover Beetle in recovery.

On turn 4, John played Hard Sound Construct to return Beetle to play. He discarded another copy of Dr. Light to search out Poison Ivy, Deadly Rose. He played Enemy of My Enemy, discarding Ivy, to find Nightmaster, Jim Rook. John used Dr. Light on Ivy. In response, Adam used Ahmed to find a Slaughter Swamp, and then used the Swamp to return Ivy to John’s hand. John, still with all of his resource points unspent, recruited Ivy. He KO’d Beetle to her ability, searching up a Birthing Chamber. Next, Chimp was recruited in the hidden area—Nightmaster was revealed for his loyalty. John played another Hard Sound Construct on Beetle, and this time he discarded Enemy of My Enemy to get Fiddler. He flipped and used his Birthing Chamber, then used another Ring Has Chosen to get Deadshot, Floyd Lawton into his KO’d pile. He played Fiddler with the alternate casting cost, and then used Chimp to make everything Masters of Evil. Another Hard Sound Construct brought Deadshot back into play. An Enemy of My Enemy from hand put the tenth card into John’s KO’d pile, and Adam conceded to the disaster that was about to befall his Ahmed.
