This match is for all the money, lose and get a bit of money, win and make Top 8, get lots more money. Shaun Hayward is playing a new creation that was made by himself and his team, The Four Horsemen, and is looking to add another $10K title to his $10K Brisbane title.

Matthew is Michael Woodhall’s younger brother, and he's also part of Vs. First Family. Matthew came in second in last year’s $10K Auckland and he is looking to further that by taking the title in this tournament. A win here for him will give him the shot he desires.

Shaun won the coin flip and chose odds.

Turn 1

Shaun played King Snake and Surprise Attack before attacking to Matthew’s empty turn 1 board. “Come on, you were playing during Origins, you know what it does, ” Shaun joked.

Turn 2

Matthew played Toad, Mortimer Toynbee and passed. Shaun had Ape X fetching Advanced Hardware, he equipped up King Snake with the Hardware and Jetpack for Ape X and passed. Matthew attacked into Ape X for a mutual stun before King attacked to Matthew’s dome.

Turn 3

Shaun played out Black Panther, King of Wakanda with Advanced Hardware on it and formed up with King and Panther in the support row with Ape X protecting King. Ape X attacked into Toad and Matthew chose to return it to his hand when that attack resolved.

Black Panther attacked into Quicksilver, Pietro Maximoff but Matthew had the power-up for the stun back. Endurance totals were 25–40 with Shaun in the lead.

Turn 4

Matthew had the powerful Sabretooth, Feral Rage and had both of his guys in the front row. Shaun had to Wild Ride for Mikado and Mosha so he could discard it to Enemy of my Enemy to get Fiero and recruited her in the Hidden Area.

Feral Rage attacks into King Snake. Shaun burnt Matthew for 3 and then King Snake fell over, doing another 2 to Matthew. Matthew past and all Shaun did was burn Matthew for another 9 endurance loss! Because Shaun had no ready support row characters, Matthew burnt Shaun back for 5, leaving the endurance totals at 23-11 in favor of Shaun.

Turn 5

Shaun just laid it out and played Chomin, Ratcatcher, Microchip, Electric Eve and an Advance Hardware for her before he was done recruiting! He then removed Microchip to turn Surprise attack down to burn Matthew for another 5.

Matthew’s turn was simple and he just recruited Magneto, Eric Lehnsherr behind Sabretooth. Shaun decided he wanted nothing to do with the attack and passed to Matthew.

Magneto tried to exhaust Panther but Shaun exhausted him to his Advance Hardware and burnt Matthew for another 3. Quicksilver attacked Ratcatcher but Shaun exhausted both Electric Eve and King Snake for Advance Hardware, then used Chomin on King Snake and evaded Electric Eve so Ratcatcher would do more damage. Finally Ratcatcher stunned and Magneto attack Black Panther with a power up and Sabertooth into the Dome but Shaun had already put Matthew to –16 endurance.

Shaun wins the match and now hopes that his tiebreakers are good enough to put him into the Top 8. Matthew will have to be content with less cash, but he should still be proud that he’s made it this far!
