Last year, Vs. System was voted Best New CCG of 2004. In 2005, the game is represented once again, as the Avengers set has been nominated for Best CCG Expansion of 2005!

The Avengers was a landmark expansion that showcased the Vs. System debut of fan favorites such as Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America. The set also featured more powerful versions of previously featured heroes, such as The Hulk. The Kang Council proved that one man can be an army, and Squadron Supreme gave players a quick and deadly “empty hand” strategy that made a huge impact on tournament play. The Avengers also brought us the reservist mechanic, adding more consistency to decks as well as an extra layer of skill. The leader mechanic also made its debut, revealing a new way to take advantage of the critical formation step.

Between featuring iconic Marvel characters for the first time, powerful chase rares, reservists ready to spring to action, and the formation of teams around a leader, The Avengers brought a new dimension to the game.
