With this being the inaugural Team Sealed event, we thought you would like to know the players behind some of the teams here today. Here is a list of the players you know on the teams you don’t.
Team Falling Down
Shane Wiggans, Michael Dalton, Peter Sundholm
These three big names are the only members of FTN and TAWC who weren’t able to make Day 2. Even though they couldn’t join their compatriots in the drafts, they said that they’re having a blast in the $10K so far and really like the format. Though they received a difficult pool for the first construction with only nine 2-drops between them, they’re still a strong contender to enter the drafts tomorrow.
Team ATM FTW
Nick Little, Karl Horn, Dair Grant
This is the only team containing a Pro Circuit Champion today, and coupled with Sealed Pack specialist Nick Little, who is also no stranger to the Sunday stage, this is a team to be reckoned with. Add the solid play of Dair Grant, and you have a well-rounded team that should be near the top of the pairings throughout the day.
Team Kings Games
Alex Shvartsman, Freddie Crespo, Mike Olivson
Everyone is familiar with the Kings Games crew, which hails from Shvartsman’s store in New York. Led by Alex, the team has been posting solid finishes on the professional scene for some time now. Alex said that as with other games, he thinks Day 1 of Team Sealed Pack events are always hard. Because of the large card pool, some teams receive really high-powered decks while other teams with less powerful pools have to make up more ground than they normally would in a singles format. He always loves Team Drafting though, and he’s looking forward to being there with his team tomorrow.
Team I Love Jager
TJ Holman, Carl Perlas, Mike Gemme
Everyone who has been to a professional event knows that TJ is perhaps only rivaled by Josh Wiitanen when it comes to being the most vocal player on the Circuit. Joining him is Carl Perlas, another name that many will recognize from a previous $10K Top 8 and regular money finishes on the PC. Mike Gemme rounds out this team.
Team We Didn’t Do It!
David Santos, Anthony Shaheen, Nicolas Cuenca
These are YMG members who, as the name suggests, didn’t make the cut in the Pro Circuit. Many of you will recognize Nicolas, who is fresh off his win at $10K Boston less than a month ago and is hoping to add back-to-back $10K wins to his resume this weekend. Nicolas pointed out that one of the best parts of the Team format is the additional skill required to construct three different decks, especially when deciding which ones receive the generic plot twists.
Team Neutral Ground
Shane Scurry, Elijah Madera, Bryan Sanchinell
Neutral Ground has been long known as the birthplace of some of the biggest names in TCG history. This team of PC regulars is hoping to add themselves to the list of recognizable names to come out of the New York City hot spot by taking home the first Team $10K trophy.
Team Not FTN
Bob Caton, Jay DiRaimondo, Don Roeber
Bob Caton is probably best known not for his Vs. System accomplishments, but rather for those of his daughter Kim Caton, Pro Circuit San Francisco Top 8 competitor. Bob happily plays the role of the doting father but is also trying to make a name for himself. He’s joined today by other friends of Kim who, like the name says, are not FTN. But don’t let that fool you—they can still hang with the best out there.
