While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Day 1 Intro
Anand Khare

On this quiet Saturday morning, 155 players have journeyed into the depths of Central Florida. A sleepy suburb of Orlando is the staging ground for the latest stop on the Vs. $10K circuit. Despite the early starting time, the rural location, and a monstrous traffic accident on the Florida Turnpike, we still have a room full of enthusiastic gamers.

Many of the game’s big names are here and trying to capitalize on a somewhat established format. I spotted most of the Top 8 from $10K Atlanta on my way into the venue. Included in that group, of course, is Atlanta’s winner Adam Prosak. Adam, the Bill Braskey of the Vs. world, took a flight in from Cincinnati that didn’t land until one o’clock this morning. Every player in the building knows what deck he’s playing, and it looks like he’s a little short on sleep, but he’s still the hands-down favorite to win this event.

Teched-out Teen Titans isn’t the only game in town, though; I’ve been told that we can expect to see at least a few Avengers-based archetypes debut at this event. That’s exciting news, because this is the last Constructed precursor to the upcoming Pro Circuit in Los Angeles. This tournament will establish the Golden Age metagame for hundreds of professional players around the world—be assured they’re paying close attention. You should too, as there are bound to be many exciting Golden Age developments as the day progresses. Stay tuned for all of the action from $10K Orlando right here on Metagame.com!
