The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 9: Daniel Enerio Jacobsen vs. Lemuel Pablo Lacuna
Noel Neo

This match was chosen for the feature match table for two reasons. One, I talked to Daniel about his deck some time back and I want to see it in action. Two, his opponent happens to be named Lacuna. I wonder if Miss Marvel Team-Up is somehow related to him.

The game was slow for two players playing aggressive decks. Despite Lemuel's playing first, it was Daniel who drew first blood, with Dagger.

Daniel flipped Midnight Sons on turn 2 and played Wild Ride for Cobra, which in turn looked for Mr. Hyde, his buddy in crime. Talk about card advantage. Lemuel replied with Silvermane. Combat was a simple stun trade.

Lemuel chose to under-drop on turn 3, playing both Vulture and Sniper. Daniel recruited Mr. Hyde and allowed the partners in crime to hold the front. Meanwhile, Dagger supported Mr. Hyde from the back.

However, all of Daniel's plans were for naught, as Lemuel gleefully flipped two Honor Among Thieves and had Vulture swoop down on the hapless Dagger. Rejuvenated, Lemuel swung Silvermane into Mr. Hyde and pushed endurance loss through with No Fear. He finished by swinging Sniper into Cobra, equalizing Daniel's earlier board advantage and pulling ahead in the race. Mr. Hyde and Silvermane were the only characters left standing as the dust settled.

On turn 4, Moon Knight came down on Daniel's side, while Lemuel once again recruited two characters, Rhino and Vulture. Daniel swung Mr. Hyde into Vulture looking to regain board advantage, but Lemuel had Uprising in answer. Daniel was once more on the hot seat as he tried to figure out how best to minimize the pain he would receive. He opted to swing Moon Knight into Rhino for a double stun, and received a Flying Kick from Silvermane for his efforts.

The turn ended with the advantage belonging clearly to Lemuel, who had Silvermane and Rhino to Daniel's Moon Knight. He also had 27 endurance while Daniel had only 16 endurance.

Turn 5 also belonged to Lemuel and Daniel was clearly in dire straits. Lemuel played Mysterio with boost and Mendel Stromm, while Daniel could only manage Elektra in the hidden area.

Mendel Stromm teamed up with Silvermane to take down Moon Knight, while the rest of the criminals brought Daniel down to -9 endurance. Elektra managed a valiant counter-offensive, pulling no punches with multiple Crime and Punishments and Flying Kicks, but still fell a little short, managing only to bring Lemuel down to -4 endurance.

Lemuel Pablo Lacuna wins.
