It was Toronto vs Quebec City in an all-Canadian showdown. These cities have a Vs. System history, with Torontonian David Fielder making Top 8 in SoCal and Dominic Gaudreault placing second at WWE last year.
And it's yet another notch in my Quebec vs. Ontario competition with Jason Grabher-Meyer, and I intend to catch up to him and take him down!
Mathieu won the toss and chose odds, and with a 6-1 record on the line for both of them, the game was on!
Turn 1
Charlotte mulliganed, and both players passed. That was easy.
Turn 2
Charlotte played
Hector Hammond, and Mathieu had no drop. Hector swung for 2 (50-48).
Turn 3
Charlotte played
Jade in front of Hector.
Hector hit for direct endurance loss (52-43), and Jade did not ready.
Turn 4
Charlotte flipped a
Book of Oa, discarding
Grayven. She recruited
Fiero into the hidden area, setting up a huge burn-factory without giving up much board advantage.
Charlotte passed her attack, and Mathieu sent
Frostbite into
Jade (46-43). He then sent
Slipstream into Hector, who stunned, while Charlotte burned Mathieu for 6 with
Fiero. Charlotte recovered Hector, and it was Ashley 38, Brochu 34.
Turn 5
Slipstream attacked, paid to ready, then attacked again, and
Fiero let loose with another 6 endurance burn. The totals were Ashley 18, Brochu 14. Mathieu was trying desperately to gain some board advantage and deal out some endurance loss, but
Fiero was the key to Charlotte's supremacy. Mathieu would need something to bring
Fiero out of hiding or attack her if he wanted to win.
Charlotte recovered Grundy, and on to . . .
Turn 6
Mathieu recruited
Superwoman into his hidden area. He had Quick, in the visible area from the Onslaught, in front of
Slipstream, with
Frostbite in support.
Charlotte sent her Grundy smashing into
Frostbite.
Slipstream reinforced, and we were tied at 14.
Charlotte Ashley wins!
