The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017
While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

After round 7, Ibamoto was 7-0, so I grabbed him for a second interview.
How long have you been a professional TCG player? About ten years. I played at PTNY for Magic in 1996. I worked for three years at Hobby Japan doing R&D for sleeves and other products, so I retired.
Have you been a consistent money-winner at pro events? So far, I have won about 2,000,000 Yen (about $18,000).
What first attracted you to TCGs? Before Game Gyaza magazine was published by Hobby Japan, I used to read their RPG magazines, and I saw articles about TCGs. This was when I was still in high-school.
What is your favorite part of playing TCGs? It’s like a puzzle. I like to play against gaijin, and to challenge my brain.
How does this second deck compare with the first? This one is stronger. I have tons of pumps—although four of them are team-stamped for Thunderbolts, and I only have five Thunderbolts characters. These pay off best in the mid-game, on turns 3 and 4 (Mt.Charteris and three Combat Maneuvers).
What do you want to tell the world about Japanese players? Japanese players are behind the rest of the world for Golden Age, since we only have Avengers in Japanese right now. For Sealed Pack and draft, though, we are good. I think I am ready for drafting at the Pro Circuit, anyway.
What could UDE do to make Vs. System more popular in Japan? Keep releasing products in Japan on a schedule that matches movie releases. Since the American comics are not very popular in Japan, this is the best way to increase recognition among Japanese people. The Fantastic Four movie was just released here—and we have the starters for Fantastic Four, too, so that was great timing. |
