The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 3: Doug Tice vs. Milton Figueroa
Anand Khare

These professional players should be familiar to anyone who keeps up with the Pro Circuit. Bother of them are undefeated going into this round. Doug took the even initiatives, and both players kept their opening hands. Milton opened with Frankie Raye ◊ Nova, Optimistic Youth, discarding Firelord to draw two cards. Frankie got a Power Gem, and Milton passed to Doug, who had nothing. On turn 2, Doug began by Terraforming The Substructure. He used it and terraformed Blue Area of the Moon before recruiting Quicksilver, Inhuman by Marriage. Milton recruited San in the hidden area, fetching a Blue Area of his own. In combat, Quicksilver attacked twice, and Milton returned the Power Gem to his hand.

Milton had the initiative on turn 3, and he under-dropped with Clumsy Foulup and the Power Gem—a curious play. Doug recruited Human Torch, Sparky behind Quicksilver. Milton declared an attack with Foulup, and he lost both his character and his equipment. Milton, highly discouraged at this point, team attacked Quicksilver with Frankie Raye and San. He flipped up Blue Area of the Moon, Battleworld, and The Herald Ordeal. Milton used Blue Area on Frankie, and then passed. Doug flipped a Battleworld of his own and stunned Frankie Raye. He attacked back for 5, and that was the turn. Doug led, 47-38.

On turn 4, Doug had Thing, Rockhead in front of Human Torch. Milton recruited Titania, Temper Tantrum behind Frankie and passed. Doug sent Human Torch in with Sworn Enemies, and Milton KO’d Frankie to prevent some breakthrough. Thing and Quicksilver attacked directly—Quicksilver attacked twice, actually. San attacked Quicksilver and took him down with help from Battleworld. In recovery, Quicksilver was lost. Doug’s lead had now expanded to 42-20.

Milton recruited Alaris for turn 5 and pushed all three of his characters to the front. Doug began his recruit by using The Substructure, then terraformed The Great Refuge. He used it to get Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans, which he recruited behind Thing. It was Milton’s attack, and he went into the tank. He finally chose to send Alaris into Thing, and then passed. He failed to note Black Bolt, however, and the attack bounced. Milton simply conceded.
