Round 8: Vincent Chan vs. Theera Chaipunya
Nick Wong

These playtest partners were disappointed when they found themselves paired against one another. The game started with a Boliver Trask and a Sentinel Mark II on Theera’s side of the board, and a lonely Puppet Master on Vincent’s. Chan recruited Rogue, Power Absorption on turn 4, but her presence was quickly detected by the Sentinel Mark V that joined Theera’s army. Chan’s turn 5 Sunfire managed to slow the game down when he activated it to cut Theera’s through forces, but Theera had Bastion on turn 6 and was ready to Press the Attack. Vincent recruited Mimic, but the game was not moving much as each player slowly chipped at the endurance totals. Turn 7 revealed the mind behind the Sentinel assault as Magneto, Master of Magnetism showed himself, forcing the X-Men to consult with Professor X, World’s Most Powerful Telepath. Bringing in bigger guns, the Sentinels revealed another villainous mastermind, Apocalypse. The situation looked bleak, but Jean Grey manifested the Phoenix Force and reset the board. Not much happened on turns 9 or 10. Turn 11, however, saw everyone’s return to the board, and Theera’s Apocalypse began snacking on Chan’s resources. Chan eventually won on endurance totals, but as time was called, he revealed X-Corporation, using Mimic and Rogue on the extra turn to put three Jean Grey bounce effects on the chain.
