The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

There is one official Guinness World Record holder at Pro Circuit New York. There are also various Guinness holders within the Metagame.com team, but apparently being able to hold your Irish stout is less of a feat than dancing on Dance Dance Revolution for thirteen hours straight. Going through all of the different difficulty levels for all the songs is a mightier feat.

Alex Jebailey has done just that and has quite the impressive resume in the video-gaming world. He is one of the top American players at Street Fighter 2 and various other fighting games. At the age of eleven, he won the first-ever Blockbuster Video Game Challenge, so clearly he has been a gamer in one way or another for a while.

This man is competitive, and having come from a 0-2 record at the start of the event to an 8-3 record with one round to go shows that his competitive spirit is backed up by some pretty reasonable skills with Vs. cards. When you factor in the fact that he is vying for the title of “King of Bling” with his all-foil Sentinels deck and is willing to defend his crown via the medium of “angry dance-off,” it becomes clear that Alex “Google My Name” Jebailey is someone I had to talk to.

TW: So Alex, how did you come to get into Vs. System?

AJ: My friend that I played Street Fighter with suggested that I'd never amount to anything in this game, and I wanted to prove him wrong. In my first PCQ, I won, and from that point the game was on. I feel like I understand this game better than various of the other TCGs out there and can relate to the characters from the comic books and so on.

TW: Has your experience competing in other environments helped you out today?

AJ: I'm used to pressure—of playing and being able to relax and have fun without feeling intimidated by opponents, regardless of how good they think they are. Being 6'2 and 230 lbs helps, too.

TW: You're playing Curve Sentinels today. Do you feel that there is any special tech that has led you to rise to the top of the field at the end of day 1?

AJ: I'm playing Apocalypse and Latverian Embassy, which is a little bit different to the standard list that is around today. Both have proved useful, with Apocalypse winning me a Gamma Doom match and a match against Jason Hager's New School deck. Latverian Embassy also won me a mirror. That god of tech Tim Willoughby gave me Latverian Embassy. He is my idol. Or something.

TW: Does being good at DDR actually mean that you are a good dancer when there aren't flashing lights and arrows?

AJ: It actually gives me the rhythm and stamina I need to keep up, but then again, all you need to do in a club is stand next to a hot enough girl and you can pretty much let her do the rest.

You heard it here first—dance tips and tech! Watch out for Alex on Day 2. If he actually goes to bed rather than dancing all night in the city that never sleeps, he may be a force to be reckoned with.
