After the dust had settled in the first Avengers Pro Circuit draft, two strategies seemed to dominate: the Faces of Evil (Masters of Evil/Thunderbolts) off-curve strategy and the empty-hand Squadron Supreme deck. Both styles have been predominantly championed by two different Vs. playtest groups. The Indianapolis crew favored the Faces of Evil deck, while the New Jersey/New York crew decided that the Squadron deck was going to give them the most wins.
The big missing element to the 3-0 metagame is the complete absence of the Kang Council affiliation, which many players hoped would be underdrafted. Vs. booster drafts have traditionally had one team that would only work with one or two drafters on the table (Marvel Knights had X-Statix, while Green Lantern Corps has Manhunter), and Kang fits the bill for The Avengers set.
