The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017
While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Patrick Yapjoco is the third Team Realmworx player to make Day 2; Ryan Jones and Vidi Wijaya both made the Top 8 in the PC. Patrick is trying to make up for what he terms an “abysmal” performance in the PC this weekend. A two-time $10K Top 8 player and 11th in the world in Constructed, Patrick is also ranked 299th in Sealed Pack. Patrick Yapjoco's Draft Pack 1 Pack 2 Pack 3 Patrick shook his head in disbelief over the seventh pick Lanterns in Love in his first pack. But he was still unsure about his blues. “I don't have any pumps; there were none in the packs. I passed one Yellow Impurity and that was it.” I asked him if there was a team he was specifically aiming for, and he mentioned Anti-Matter. “From what I heard yesterday, it wasn't drafting high. Everyone was drafting Green Lantern and Emerald Enemies. Vidi (Wijaya) had four Banished to the Anti-Matter Universes and Ryan (Jones) had one and they both went 3-0.” From pre-Day 2 discussions with teammates about tech strategy and some solid testing before they got to New York, Pat felt confident about his decisions. Patrick Yapjoco's Deck Characters Equipment Locations Plot Twists Patrick's Top 5 cards he wanted to see: 5) Team-Ups And he managed to nab a few of those. His one difficult choice was between Q Field and a No Evil. He wanted No Evil in his deck but had to take something out to make room. Another last minute drop was Lana Lang, Manhunter Sleeper. As for his ideal deck size: “I always play thirty cards exactly, aiming for twenty characters to ten blue and green. This time I played nineteen and eleven because I needed more blue in the deck.” His ideal curve is: 2 7-drops 3 6-drops 4 5drops 4 4-drops 4 3-drops 2-3 1- and 2-drops Patrick likes that bell curve, which thins at drops 1, 2, and 7. He claims that any skill he has in Sealed Pack was picked up by osmosis from drafting with Vidi Wijaya and Ryan Jones. Sealed Pack has “never been my strong point, but I seem to have a keen sense of where everyone's going, so drafting with them gives me an idea of what to look for.” As for this draft, “I hope I do well . . . I'm really not sure.” But he did manage to play in a Sealed PCQ on Friday after dropping from the PC, giving him a little extra practice and a fourth place finish. Patrick's prediction for Day 2: a 2-1 record. |
