The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 9: Craig Edwards vs. Rich Brady
Anand Khare

For this round's feature match we visit table 2, where Rich Brady's Teen Titans square off against Craig Edwards's Dr. Light deck. Craig won the coin flip and chose to take the even initiative.

Rich had no play on turn 1, and Craig led off with Valeria Richards. On turn 2, Craig played a Sonar and flipped Millennium to team up Fantastic Four and Emerald Enemies. He then played an Invisible Woman and passed without bothering to attack. Again, Rich had nothing, and play moved to the next turn. Rich led off turn 3 with a Roy Harper ◊ Arsenal, arguably the best card in Teen Titans' arsenal.

“Uh-oh,” said Craig.

Craig used Signal Flare to get a Dr. Light, Master of Holograms, discarding another Invisible Woman. He then used The Ring has Chosen to get Kristoff Von Doom, and discard him. Craig used Dr. Light to return Kristoff to play, and then flipped a Marvel Team-up to attempt to team-up Fantastic Four and Doom. Rich responded with Betrayal, and Craig stunned Invisible Woman. In desperation, Rich stunned Kristoff with Roy Harper.

The players moved into the attack step, and Rich Foiled the Marvel Team-Up. In response, Craig flipped a Devil's Due and sacrificed Invisible Woman to give Dr. Light a counter. The players moved to the recovery step.

Craig kicked off turn 4 by flipping a Common Enemy. He then played a Millennium from his hand. Once again, in desperation, Rich used Roy for a stun on Kristoff before Craig could go off. This left him with a single resource in play as the players moved into recovery. It was at about this time that Stephen Silverman, another Dr. Light player, stopped by to let us know that he had won his match on turn 3.

“Good job,” said Craig.

Rich had the initiative on turn 5. He used Optitron to search for a Dove and immediately recruited her. Rich was frowning and slowly shaking his head, but he was trying to be a good sport. Craig played a Common Enemy from his hand to draw, and then drew another card with Valeria. He played Signal Flare from his hand to get Rama-Tut into the discard pile. Craig then chained a Cosmic Radiation to his Dr. Light effect, targeting Rama-Tut.

At this point, Rich thought for a little while about his play. Craig also decided to play with his hand face up and explained how no combination of effects could stop him from immediately winning the game. Rich reluctantly conceded.

“Sorry,” said Craig.

Craig Edwards wins!
