Here’s a quick look at some of the more notable 2-0 match ups:
Table 9: Matt McLaughlin vs. David Bauer
Realmsworx’s McLaughlin decided on Heroes United after a six-hour late night session, during which he considered an X-Men based concoction that included Phantom Zone Projector. Finally, Matt realized that the creation was losing far too much, and he went for the tried and true deck. Matt lost round 3 to David Bauer, who was playing Curve Sentinels. Things off the way they should have for him—turn 6 Bastion, turn 7 Genosha andMagneto.
Table 2: Rob Leander vs. Bryon Burks
Leander’s a guy we’re going to follow until he loses. So, you can expect more on him in the coming rounds, thanks to his third victory in as many tries. Playing his pet Teen Titans deck, Rob got a bad pairing against Burks’s X-Men Stall deck. Luckily for Rob, however, Burks missed a resource drop, leaving him a turn behind for most of the game. This gave Rob the window he needed, and he took advantage with a turn 7 victory.
Table 13: Gabe Walls vs. Chad Morrin
Walls is the lone Magic professional in attendance, and he’s off to his usual fast start. Coming in at 2-0, Walls admitted that his third round victory wasn’t much of an accomplishment. Morrin, running Brave and the Bold, played no characters on turns 3, 4 or 5. Walls is running Titans, widely considered to be the most difficult deck in the environment to play.
