Emmanuel had traveled rather far from his native Philippines, and was doing very well at 4-0. His opponent also had a perfect score, and each player was looking to secure a spot in day 2.
Emmanuel won the die roll and chose to take the even initiatives. Both kept their opening hands.
Turn 1: Wilfred played Copperhead, which he equipped with Justice League Signal Device. Emmanuel missed his drop. Endurance: Emmanuel 48, Wilfred 50.
Turn 2: Wilfred managed to follow up with Connor Hawke ◊ Green Arrow, who received the Signal Device, while Emmanuel failed to find a character once more. Endurance: Emmanuel 43, Wilfred 50.
Turn 3: Wilfred had Dr. Sivana, who took the Signal Device, and Emmanuel played Rocket Red #4, his first character of the game. Dr. Sivana and Copperhead team attacked to clear the path for Connor Hawke. Endurance: Emmanuel 37, Wilfred 47.
Turn 4: Emmanuel recruited Poison Ivy, Kiss of Death and formed with her in front of Rocket Red. Wilfred played Hector Hammond, Mind Over Matter and formed in a square with Dr. Sivana and Copperhead protecting Connor Hawke and Hector Hammond respectively. Rocker Red swung into Dr. Sivana, and Emmanuel flipped Plasma Blast. However, Wilfred had Counterstrike for the double stun. Emmanuel then activated Poison Ivy to KO Dr. Sivana. He passed the initiative, and Wilfred had Hector Hammond attack Poison Ivy with support from a flipped Glass Jaw, but Emmanuel was able to counter with Balance of Power. However, Wilfred was still able to trump that with Air Strike to clear the path to Emmanuel. Emmanuel chose to KO Poison Ivy in the recovery phase. Endurance: Emmanuel 26, Wilfred 44.
Turn 5: Wilfred had Martian Manhunter, J’onn J’onzz, and Emmanuel played Abra Kadabra. Copperhead team attacked Rocket Red with Hector Hammond, and Emmanuel could only stun Copperhead. Martian Manhunter then attacked Abra Kadabra for a double stun, clearing the path for Connor Hawke. Copperhead and Rocket Red went to the KO’d pile. Endurance: Emmanuel 13, Wilfred 38.
Turn 6: Emmanuel recruited Ocean Master, who was formed behind Abra Kadabra. Wilfred played Sue Dibny, who searched out a Booster Gold which was subsequently boosted into play. Batman, Hidden Crusader was also added to his team in the hidden area. Wilfred formed with Sue Dibny and Hector Hammond in front of Martian Manhunter and Connor Hawke respectively. Booster Gold was beside Martian Manhunter.
Abra Kadabra attacked Hector Hammond and Ocean Master attacked Booster Gold. Wilfred declined to attack when the initiative passed to him, and chose to have Booster Gold go to the KO’d pile. Endurance: Emmanuel 13, Wilfred 31.
Turn 7: Wilfred brought Wonder Woman, Princess Diana into play, and formed with Martian Manhunter behind Wonder Woman and the rest of his characters in the front row. Emmanuel had Ultra-Humanite and placed him in front. Abra Kadabra stood beside his larger counterpart and protected Ocean Master. Wonder Woman attacked Ocean Master, and Emmanuel pitched the last four cards he had to give Abra Kadabra two counters before allowing his character to stun. Wilfred then flipped Justice League Task Force to team up JLI and SS. Team attacks into Emmanuel’s final two characters won the game for Wilfred. |
