The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 8: Jack Garrett vs. Erik Cabanero
Billy Zonos

Jack  “$10K Champion” Garrett sat down to face Erik “The Gooch” Cabanero in the final round of this illustrious $13.5K championship. Besides his $10K win, Garret is most known for being friends with Josh Wiitanen. “Cabarnero” is no joke either as he finished 19th in last year’s PC: LA.

The players shuffled up while sharing jovial chit-chat. Jack won the roll and quite astonishingly chose the even initiative. Cabby mulled in disgust. Jacky was staring down at a decent curve, 2-5. He thoughtfully leaned forward in his chair, and eventually decided to keep.

Turn 1:

The big whiff.

Turn 2:

Jack laid down Dazzler, Rock Star. Cabby matched with Shadowcat, Katya. Mutual stunners.

Turn 3:

Cabby played Beast, Feline Geneticist. Jack jumped out of his chair with glee, flopping Tarot with an Image Inducer on the table. Cabby was reeling. With little choice, he slid his Shadowcat sideways and attacked into Tarot. Tarot went down, forcing Jack to return to his chair. Beast took care of Dazzler and on to turn 4 we went.

Turn 4:

Jackson set a resource and unveiled a Sentinel Mark VI behind Tarot. This play wasn’t quite enough to provoke Garret out of his chair, but you could see from the look in his eyes that he was tempted.

With a low grunting “Erg”, Cabby played the best 4-drop in modern. Cabby shipped the cat to the hidden and formed up like a pro.

Garret sent the Sent in for the easy kill. Too bad Cabby had the Kill or be Killed to force the mutual stun. Beast went down, ripping the Mark VI to shreds. Tarot came into the face for a couple.

Not missing a beat, Cabby pressed his advantage by attacking his Shadowcat into Tarot. With a little help from the [Mech Bay

], Cabby found the double stun. With a clear board, Erg went in direct with a chair.

In the recovery, Shadowcat and Tarot went to the KO’d pile, taking their chairs with them.

Turn 5:

Cabby played Polaris for the eventual win. The end was near and Jack knew it. Rising in a rush, Jack knocked his chair into a passing TBS. TBS was not amused. Jack apologized profusely and play continued. Marrow was recruited for Jack, behind his massive Mark VI.

With a flurry of ultra-coordinated hand movements, Cabby flashed Jack the Homo Superior, which was just enough to force Garret to scoop.

With the thunderous sound of chairs crashing against walls, Erik Cabanero won over heavily favored Jack Garret and advances to Day 2!
