An unlikely card making the rounds today has helped Vidianto Wijaya earn a slot in the Top 8 of this $10K. It’s a card nobody expects when playing against a Curve Sentinels deck—Search and Destroy.
It’s an odd choice, indeed, but it’s proven more than useful to Vidi throughout the tournament. The ability to stun a 3-cost character with a Sentinel Mark III and a plot twist is great. The ability to completely destroy rival army decks, Superman-heavy decks, and basically any deck relying on multiple copies of one character, as well as look at the opponent’s hand, is just insane.
One of the other major uses for Search and Destroy throughout the weekend was to disrupt the Tim Drake ◊ Robin, Young Detective and Red Star power-up combo, which created a duo that could not be stunned while team attacking. Search and Destroy completely ruins this by responding to the attack declaration, stopping the team attack and the devastating combo.
So, will this inspire future use of Search and Destroy? Possibly, but it depends on what the purple robots will have to go up against in the future. In the mean time, it appears to have worked quite well for Vidi.
