$10K Munich has a grand total of 101 players fighting for a piece of history—the winner will be first big tournament champion to take home a trophy after the banning of Overload and Rama-Tut’s new inability to allow Dr. Light to do naughty tricks. The halcyon days of pure beatdown may well be back, and the Green Lantern Corps decks will get their first chance to shine now that they’re out of Light’s shadow.
The metagame is hardly devoid of robots, but they aren’t dominating the field quite as much as they were in New York. In fact, the field is pretty open, with a breakdown as follows:
Sentinels – 19
The New Brotherhood – 12
GLEE Club – 10
Common Enemy – 8
Teen Titans – 7
League of Assassins – 4
Brave and the Bold – 3
Fantastic Fun – 3
Heroes United – 3
X-Beats – 3
Speed Dream – 2
Brotherhood Doom – 2
Brotherhood Sentinels – 2
Zero Hour - 2
There are also a whole bunch of decks that have shown up as singletons. Some edited highlights include Fat Bat, Evil Medical School, Honor Among Thieves, and an Arkham Inmates deck. It will be interesting to see which of these decks rises to the top of so open a field. Traditionally, beatdown tends to do better in an ill-defined metagame, but with each set giving control decks more options to factor in than their aggressive brethren, beatdown has far from an easy fight.
