The Beatles played their final gig at Shea Stadium. That was a pretty good venue. When Armstrong said his little speech about steps for mankind, he picked the right place to say it. Now, I want you to forget such trivial locations. When I first saw the venue for $10K Bremen, I was left speechless, and I didn’t even fully realize what I was seeing.
From the outside, the Space Center in Bremen is a spectacular piece of architecture—one which warranted enough photos from me to start to make me think that I’m being a tourist. To put this in perspective, I was entirely comfortable taking multiple photographs of the Empire State Building in New York. When one walks inside the venue, the first thing that it is necessary to do is to get past the throng of hundreds of Yu-Gi-Oh! players inside the colossal building. The numbers actually go beyond hundreds, at over 1000 and still counting. The pushing is well worth it, though.
For the 126 players at $10K Bremen, there is a beautiful melange of rock and metal which puts Bat-Caves and Underground Sentinel Bases to shame. It might not be apparent from the photographs, but every rock that you see in these scenes is an actual rock. The waterfalls and pools will actually get you wet. If Magneto’s Asteroid M met Batman’s Bat-Cave met the lair of every great cave-dwelling beast from tales both past and to come, then you might get close to the scene for this weekend’s $10K. I was speechless, and I am slowly regaining some sense of vocabulary—but trust me, whatever is written here does not do justice to this incredible venue. This is the sort of place where history is made. It’s up to the players of $10K Bremen to do it.
