Arturo won the coin flip, passed initiative, and both players opted to keep their starting hands.

Turn 1 passed uneventfully, but turn 2 saw some action with Arturo recruiting Toad and Edson recruiting Pyro. Toad attacked with a power up and was met by The New Brotherhood while Arturo lost 3 endurance from Pyro. Both characters were stunned.

Edson missed his drop on turn 3, but Arturo recruited Mystique, Raven Darkholme. Pyro attacked Mystique with a second The New Brotherhood, dealing some breakthrough endurance loss and dishing out yet another double stun. Toad swung for three, and all characters recovered.

Arturo continued hitting his drops in a big way, recruiting Sabretooth, Feral Rage while Edson struggled with just a Quicksilver, Pietro Maximoff. Edson blocked some breakthrough with a reinforcement but was wiped off the field, taking damage from Mystique and Toad. He opted to keep Quicksilver around.

Edson aimed to make a comeback on turn 5, with initiative and a Magneto, Eric Lehnsherr. He was quickly met with a Magneto from Arturo, and Arturo formed up with Mystique behind Magneto and Toad behind Sabretooth. Looking to make a push out of his bad situation, Edson activated Genosha, drawing four cards. Edson’s Magneto exhausted Mystique and Quicksilver attacked Sabretooth for yet another double stun. Edson’s Magneto then attacked Arturo’s Magneto, powered up, and stunned it for 5 breakthrough endurance loss.

Arturo recovered Magneto, only to recruit Sabretooth, Victor Creed on turn 6. With initiative on his side, he pushed everything to the front row and passed his build. Hesitating for a moment, Edson then recruited Scarlet Witch and moved everything to the back row after flipping Lost City.

Aggressively, Edson activated Quicksilver’s effect before Arturo committed to an attack. This meant he could only reinforce once instead of twice this turn—a risky move. Mystique went after Magneto with a pair of Flying Kicks, forcing Edson to reinforce with Scarlet Witch. Edson now appeared to be easy pickings, but his hand was still loaded. Sabretooth attacked Scarlet Witch and both characters stunned. Magneto then Flying Kicked Quicksilver. Arturo powered up Magneto and passed priority. Edson powered up with Lost City, Arturo attempted to Relocation it, and Edson responded by flipping another Lost City. This brought him down to four resources again and brought both copies of The New Brotherhood back into effect. Still, it wasn’t enough, and Edson scooped.
