Did you go to the Sneak Preview for Justice League of America?
Yeah, obviously. I had to get some testing in for this tournament.
(At this point, Adam Horvath interjected. “What? How am I supposed to win when there are people who have actually seen this set!”)
What do you think of the new set?
It looks very good. It seems harder to draft than Avengers. I don’t really know what to draft in it, even though I have drafted it four times. It feels like Green Lantern, a set that I didn’t know how to draft until I’d drafted it thirty times. I was hoping they would further off-curve strategies, but there are way too many cards that just destroy it. Gorilla Grodd is just too good. There’s also a card like Terra, except it’s a 5-drop.
What do you think is the best team in the set?
I really think that Secret Society is the best team in Sealed Pack. I want to draft JLA or JLA, I think, but Society’s synergy with the milling cards is really good.
What cards are you hoping to open in your Sealed Pack?
UN Recognition, the new Nasty Surprise, and Martian Manhunter, J’onn J’onzz. That guy is insane—he makes it so that your opponents can never attack you, and they never deal breakthrough.
Who do you think has the best chance of winning today?
Neil Reeves. I try to pattern my game after his, but without much success. His strategic genius is unparalleled. One day, I would like to be just like Neil. He’s truly one of the great minds of the game, and I am lucky to have the privilege of standing in his shadow.
