$10K Gen Con UK
Metagame Staff

Minehead saw some of the best Vs. System players in Europe take on some of the best Vs. System players from around the world. Players like Jeremy Gray, Ian Vincent, and Vince Turner distinguished themselves by using innovative decks that could make a big splash in the upcoming months. In the end, it was two Common Enemy builds that went head to head for the Championship.

The overall skill level was just as good, if not better than the average for a North American $10K tournament. Though the field was devoid of Spider-Friends and Aerial Supremacy decks, several Sinister Syndicate and Sentinel Curve decks were present and placed well. Despite Web of Spider-Man hitting most retail locations only five to seven days before the tournament, most players had the Web of Spider-Man cards they needed for their specific decks. Everyone was also quite aware of the impact that the new cards would have on the metagame. It was an almost surprisingly strong showing of skill and innovation, and Minehead was a credit to the innovation of European players.

Rich Edbury gave an incredibly impressive performance, adding another money finish to his growing list and taking the championship with possibly the first innovative build of Common Enemy in the past several months. Congratulations to him, and to all the competitors at the Gen Con UK Vs. System $10K tournament!
