Round 6 Feature Match: Adam Prosak vs. Quang Nguyen
Toby Wachter

Prosak qualified for the Pro Circuit via a Limited qualifier and found out about this tournament a week ago. He then essentially learned Constructed from scratch, and so far it seems that his talent is carrying him through his lack of experience. He’s 5–0 going into this round, playing against San Diego’s own Quang Nguyen, who is also undefeated. Prosak is playing New Brotherhood, and Nguyen is playing Mutant Nation.

Game 1

Prosak started with Destiny, followed by Pyro on turn 2. Nguyen played a Pyro of his own, and when they butted heads, Prosak flipped over The New Brotherhood to get damage through and cause a stun despite Nguyen’s power up. Nguyen played Wolverine, Logan followed by Mutant Nation, and Prosak played a third turn Quicksilver. Destiny activated to name Pyro, and Quicksilver charged into Wolverine, taking a power-up. This caused both to be stunned, and the Pyros stunned each other. Thanks to Destiny, Nguyen took 4 more. Avalon Space Station helped Prosak get back some threats, and Nguyen KO’ed Pyro during his recovery.

Sabretooth, Feral Rage gave Prosak a massive threat, and Nguyen played one of his own. Prosak’s Sabretooth attacked into Nguyen’s, which was to his advantage since breakthrough damage would get through. Wolverine was stunned by the following attack and was KO’ed during the recovery. Nguyen played a Nightcrawler, Fuzzy Elf, and tried to bust it through Sabretooth, but Prosak used a power-up. When he tried to use Avalon Space Station to do it again, Nguyen responded with Global Domination to stop that plan, and both creatures were stunned. Nguyen’s Sabretooth attacked Destiny to do some serious damage. Prosak came back with a 5-drop Quicksilver, giving it Flying Kick and flipping over a second Space Station to go down to 4 resources. With a little help from Destiny, this was enough to win the game.

Game 2

Nguyen’s Cerebro hit nothing, and Prosak had turn 2 Pyro. Pyro attacked, and Prosak flipped over both his resources to reveal two copies of The New Brotherhood. Nguyen played Wolverine on turn 3, but still had a lot of ground to gain if he was going to get around the double Brotherhood draw. Quicksilver came out on turn 3, and Sabretooth on turn 4 to complete a near-perfect draw for Prosak. To make matters worse for Nguyen, Cerebro just couldn’t seem to hit. Nguyen’s Nightcrawler was stunned by a Quicksilver attack, and Sabretooth attacked Wolverine. Thanks to Avalon Space Station, Nguyen was able to power up Wolverine enough to at least force both to be stunned. Ka-Boom! KO’ed Cerebro, and Nightcrawler was KO’ed during the recovery.

Nguyen had another Cerebro, and started to rebuild with the help of the Space Station. Prosak played Rogue, Anna Raven, and Nightcrawler attacked and stunned Pyro. Ka-Boom! dealt with the second Cerebro, and Wolverine tried to get through via power-ups, but Prosak had a power-up of his own. This cleared the way for Prosak’s Sabretooth to attack and finish the match.
