David “Moose” Helsby is one of Melbourne’s more successful TCG players. He tackled the Melbourne $10K with what he thought was the best metagame choice—the revitalised League of Assassins.
The 34-year-old hospitality worker said he was just blown away by the deck’s consistency in playtesting. Here’s the list he used today.

Perhaps surprising to some, David's deck only had one Lazarus Pit, but he said he was much more interested in stunning and KO’ing his opponents’ characters. “KO, KO, KO. Get all your drops with Demon’s Head and Stronghold and go to town.”
David specifically geared his deck to try to dominate the late game, with the powerhouses Magneto, Lady Shiva, Apocalypse and Ra’s al Ghul, The Demon’s Head featuring in the deck.
He described it more as a “toolbox” deck.
David said playtesting showed that his deck had good match-ups against Titans and Sentinels, as well as generally decent against everything else. It turned out to be a decent choice, seeing him finish in the money in thirteenth place with six wins during the Swiss rounds.
Finally, he revealed that he was a huge League of Assassins fan, which might have also contributed to his decision-making process. “I LOVE THE LEAGUE!!!”
