The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Table One: Ryan Jones vs. Brian Eugenio

Ryan got his The New Brotherhood on turn 1 and hit his curve, so he was hitting hard extremely early. Eugenio, packing his Doom/New Gods deck, missed his 3-drop, but thought he was in decent shape when he used The Source to eliminate Ryan Jones’s The New Brotherhood. Unfortunately, he was in for a surprise, as the replacement card out of Jones’s deck was another copy of The New Brotherhood!

Still, Dr. Doom hit the table on turn 4—his effect and a Mystical Paralysis slowed Jones’s offensive quite considerably. While Eugenio attempted to fend off Jones’s Onslaught, his endurance was slowly whittled away, and it came down to turn 7. If Eugenio could see a copy of Sub-Mariner he’d be set, but if not Jones would probably finish him. “I needed a Sub-Mariner, or anything! But I couldn’t get one,” lamented Eugenio. A single copy of Surprise Attack finished him off.

Game Win: Ryan Jones, on turn 7

Table Two: Alex Etzel vs. Colin Rodriguez

After a long delay due to deck checks, Colin Rodriguez got an early-game The New Brotherhood. Etzel curved almost perfectly with Dove, Tim Drake, an unfortunate turn 3 Pantha, Terra, and Garth. Rodriguez was forced to play Blob on turn 4, fell victim to a flurry of Finishing Moves, and had little beyond three near-useless copies of Surprise Attack that he drew into at inopportune times. Though Etzel didn’t curve flawlessly, he did have the plot twists and drops to keep Rodriguez permanently off balance, and it was enough to win him the game with relative ease.

Game Win: Alex Etzel, on turn 5

Table Three: Justin Kho vs Eric Fletcher

Eric was playing Titans while Kho was running Curve Sents. “I curved out [on turns] 1 to 5, I missed Bastion on 6 and the game ended on that turn. Turn four he missed his drop, and I double Overloaded him.”

The surprise? Despite missing Bastion, Justin Kho won the match with a big push on turn 6 despite his missed drop. Wow.

Game Win: Justin Kho, on turn 6

Table Four: Josh Wiitanen vs Vidianto Wijaya

Luck was in Wiitanen’s favor as he curved perfectly against some flawed draws from Wijaya. Much like Table Two’s match, the Titans player (Wiitanen) kept the TNB player off balance through the liberal use of Finishing Move, and without the ability to maintain field presence or draw well, Wijaya went down.

Game Win: Josh Wiitanen, on turn 6
