The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

$10K Singapore
Metagame Staff

Singapore’s honor has been satisfied.

Orry stopped Malaysian Hsu-Yeung in the semifinals before goin on to clash with Keng Yin in the finals. In a close match that saw two Asian Sealed Pack giants slug it out, Orry managed to outmaneuver his opponent to emerge the winner of $10K Singapore.

As the battle-weary warriors trooped back at the end of the day, we remembered the valuable lessons that the event highlighted. We learned that Malaysians tend to draft characters higher than others and prefer non–combat modifying plot twists, whilst the Singaporean preference lies in the other direction. We were also reminded that Sealed Pack is a very different format than Constructed, and expertise in one doesn’t guarantee success in the other.

Congratulations to Orry Suen, winner of $10K Singapore!

Day 2
Keng Yin is second in Sealed Pack for Asia, while Orry is third. Aside from the prize money and trophy, the title of being the top player in Asia is probably on the line, as well.
The games started quickly, with little banter, as each player remained mindful of the stakes they were playing for.

Both players in this match are Malaysians and hail from the city of Kuala Lumpur.
Both players are still at six wins with just two more games to go. Losing this one would mean losing the chance to Top 8.
Before the round even started, there was a major upset. One of the players failed to appear—this from the top pod on Day 2!
Watching the players sit at the tables, waiting for the cue to dive into the first pack, one can catch hints of nervous conversation flittering up from the floor.
Day 1
After 7 rounds of Swiss, there are no undefeated players left standing.
asked Bertram how he ended up in such dire straits, and he revealed that he had been at a friend’s party though the night and came to the event with a horrible hangover.
With evil grins, they promised to make it nigh impossible for me to follow their game, and kept that promise by playing at a pace of approximately fifteen seconds per turn.
“A good practice in Sealed Pack is to check for bombs like Two-Face, Split Personality, Appa Ali Apsa, and any potentially game breaking monsters."
Chapman then ran Gnaxos into Hector Hammond to take the first lead in board advantage.
“I don’t usually play Major Force, but I noted the interesting synergy between the character and Empire of Tears, so I decided to give it a shot."
Orry ranks third in Sealed Pack in Asia, whilst Samuel used to work for Comics Mart, the leading local store for comics and TCGs.
He cites combat pumps as the most powerful plot twists in the format.
What a comeback for Tze Hong!
I find Sealed more rigid than Draft, as you’re constrained by your card pool. Given the card pool, I usually have just enough cards to play with once I’m done filtering out the junk and cutting the excesses.
The $10K circuit has reached the shores of Singapore, the garden city, on its third stop in Asia.
