The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 8 Round-up
Ted Knutson

Table 1: Mark Slack vs. Loren Nolan

Slack used a double Uppercut and a Sweeping Up on turn 3. This seemed to put him way ahead in the game, especially after Remoni-Notra ◊ Star Sapphire grabbed a Green Lantern Ring on turn 5 and popped a cap in one of Nolan’s characters. Oddly enough, though, it all came down to—of all things—an Element Man power-up from Nolan on turn 7 that left him at 1 endurance with Slack completely spent. Nolan was then able to recruit another massive body to his squad on turn 8 and finish the day with a completely unblemished record that will presumably qualify him for the Top 8 draft tomorrow—even if he “oh-fers” his draft table in the Top 24.

The Element Man power-up put Slack at 6-2. This, in turn, moved Dair Grant’s tiebreakers just enough to leave him in 25th place—on spot out of the money. Stupid Element Man.

Table 2: Nick Little vs. Jason Hager

This was an utter mauling. Little was never in this match, and Hager won veeeery easily, giving Little his second loss on the day.

Table 3: Gabe Walls vs. Bulk Lao

Turn 7 in this match was almost as good as turn 7 at table 1. With Walls on the initiative, the board was Sinestro, Enemy of the Corps, Boodikka, and Harlequin for Gabe against Kilowog and Alan Scott with Light Armor for Lao. Walls said, “This may be the greediest thing I’ve ever done,” before flipping up Mosaic World and team attacking Harlequin and Booty into Alan Scott, earning a stun. He then attacked Sinestro into Kilowog, flipped over Jackhammer in his resource row, and discarded Light Armor from his hand. This gave him enough ATK to lower Lao to 6 endurance, which was just enough for Sinestro to finish him off at the start of the recovery step.
