The gritty rain that inundated Day 1 stopped falling just in time for eight competitors to emerge from the mist and battle for their share of the $10,000 prize pool. The road to the championship itself won’t be easy—the eventual winner will have to surmount top tier decks and players alike to capture the trophy.
The surviving players include Vidianto Wijaya (holder of four previous Top 8 finishes with Teen Titans), who persisted through an earth-shattering Round 10 match with $10K Chicago champion Michael Jacob to make the cut, and the always-dangerous Adam Prosak (a PC Top 8 finisher, also with Titans), who endured a first round loss and still managed to make his way into the second day.
The participating decks are a mix of top tier power and old school craziness. There are three Curve Sentinels decks, three Teen Titans decks, a League of Assassins deck (very old school), and a Gamma Doom (with Beast!) deck. Now, the proprietors of the cards are preparing to throw down.
Before it rains again on Jefferson Avenue, we will have crowned a $10K Detroit champion.
