Round 7: Adam Fears vs. David Leader
Anand Khare

David Leader, from Atlanta, is the winner of Pro Circuit Indy 2005. Adam Fears (already featured) is a TDC member from Alabama. Adam is undefeated, while David has one loss on the day. Adam won the die roll and selected the odd initiatives. David mulliganed his opener, while Adam kept.

Adam missed on the first turn, but David managed to recruit Lockjaw, Inhuman’s Best Friend in the concealed area. He discarded Elite Doom Guards to search for Tonaja. Lockjaw got in for 2. On turn 2, David hit with Nenora in the hidden area. Again, Adam missed, and he took 4 for his trouble. Turn 3 was Adam’s initiative, and he finally had a recruit in the form of Wolverine, Skrunucklehead. David recruited Tonaja. Adam attacked directly for 5, and David attacked back with his 1-drops to stun the 3-drop. Tonaja attacked directly for 4 and picked up a cosmic counter in recovery. David led, 44-37.

On turn 4, David had Thing, Rockhead, which he equipped with Nega-Bands. Adam recruited Dewoz in front of Wolverine. David declared an attack of Thing into Dewoz. Adam allowed it, but moved his characters to the hidden area and reinforced before the stun. David attacked directly for 13 with help from Hala. In recovery, both Thing and Wolverine picked up cosmic counters. David widened his lead; the endurance score now stood at 44-18.

Turn 5 was Adam’s initiative. He recruited Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans in his visible area and set Wolverine in front of Dewoz in his hidden area. David recruited Alaris in front of Thing, and then passed. Adam went into the tank and eventually decided to send Wolverine and Dewoz in a team attack into Alaris. David allowed it and stunned Dewoz. Adam played The Uni-Power on Black Bolt and sent him into Tonaja. David activated Hala to threaten the stunback. Adam had Worldeater Apparatus and Blue Area of the Moon, though, and Tonaja went down without further trouble. David’s Thing was in the support row, so he didn’t have much in the way of a counteroffensive. In recovery, Tonaja was lost. David still led, 30-14.

On turn 6, David played both Korath the Pursuer and Franklin Richards, Creator of Counter-Earth. He pushed his characters to the front and passed. Adam played Firelord, Harbinger of Havoc in front of Black Bolt, and then passed right back. David sent Thing and Franklin Richards in a team attack into Firelord. Adam gained 3 endurance with Worldeater Apparatus and stunned Thing back. Next, David declared Alaris into Black Bolt. Adam made further use of the Apparatus and paid 2 endurance to move Dewoz and Wolverine to the support row of the visible area. Wolverine reinforced Black Bolt, and the 5-drop was stunned. David declared Korath into Dewoz, and Adam used the Apparatus again. David played Conquered Planet for +3 ATK, and Dewoz was stunned. Finally, David declared a team attack on Wolverine. Adam conceded.
