One hundred players are here today on the University of Massachusetts campus in Boston for the first major Golden Age event in several months. It’s been quite a while since most of the attendees have had the opportunity to play the format, so testing was in full swing right up until the tournament began. Many players chose to forego sleep in favor of night-long testing sessions with their decks of choice.
The buzz today is that High Voltage is the deck to beat; a common sentiment here is that it takes a lot of work to make any other deck go even 50/50 against that particular powerhouse. Other decks with some amount of enthusiasm behind them are Migga City and G’Lock. Infinite Crisis is also expected to make a big splash in the second Golden Age $10K in which it’s legal. Really, this is anyone’s tournament, but in such a wide-open field, it’s probably safe to say that the teams that did the most testing will have the biggest payout.
