The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Draft Profile: Luke Bartter
Michael Palmer

Australian native Luke Bartter has been on a roll lately with a money finish at $10K Sydney and another one here at $10K San Francisco. Luke is sitting atop the 7-2s right now, and though he believes that he could make Top 8 with a 2-1 record this morning, he isn’t entirely sure. He drafted in seat 4 of pod 1 and was sitting directly next to Vs. System pro Nick Little.

“The team I wanted go with was definitely Villains United, but I did first pick a T-Spheres because it’s just too powerful in the wrong hands. I took the Rann really early because I had no idea what people would run at the table; it gives you the comfort of knowing that you can team-up somehow no matter what you get, and get an extra +1 ATK,” Luke stated as he started to lay out his cards in order of characters, plot twists, and locations.

Luke immediately began cutting specific cards that he knew wouldn’t work with his strategy, such as Nightmaster, Jim Rook, Elimination Protocol ◊ OMAC Robot, and Catman. “Catman is nice since it’s a 3-drop with concealed, which means your opponent can’t attack into your 3-drop to keep it away.

“It’s not the best draft I could have done; if I had known that Checkmate was going to get as little a look as it did, I would have drafted it, as well. I originally wanted to force Checkmate, and it seems that that would have been the best move, but at the last minute, I flinched.” Luke continued to look over his characters and quickly settled on a build.

“My deck’s pretty good, I think, but I’m tired right now and so I’m not entirely sure. I mean, if I don’t make Top 8, I won’t lose sleep over it,” Luke said as he made his way through the deck registration sheet.
