$10K Melbourne
Metagame Staff

Vs. System players from near and very, very far converged on Australia’s cultural capital, Melbourne, for the second Australian $10K event.

Many surprises were realized as Curve Sentinels amassed a fleet of mutant killing machines that also indiscriminately slaughter Teen Titans, while Common Enemy turned out in numbers but failed to make a big impact.

Perhaps most surprising was the Australian gaming community’s resident whipping-boy Ben “The Ben Seck” Seck taking top honors with an innovative Gotham Knights/Fantastic Four team-up that abused Alfred Pennyworth, A Child Named Valeria and Batman, The Dark Knight.

Sadly for those Australians that especially like to tear down the “TBS” machine of self-promotion and glory-hounding, it seemed the reason was no flash in the panSeck’s championship deck also won a $10K Warm-Up event held in Sydney a week prior to this tournament. At the time, whether or not it would have a wider impact on the Vs. metagame remained to be seen. However, the result confirmed that the Australian players are an innovative bunch, following the rise of the Fearsome Knights (GK/Fearsome Five) deck at the inaugural $10K.

After a huge day of gaming, many of the hungry, battle-weary players headed out to test Melbourne’s mettle as the Culinary Capital of the world … or so that’s the Melbournians’ claim. Congratulations to Ben Seck, $10K Melbourne Champion!
