The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

$10K Wizard World Texas
Metagame Staff

After twenty hours of play over the course of two days, we have ourselves a winner. Adam Bernstein is far from unknown in the Vs. world, but until now, he has not had a reputation as a Sealed Pack specialist. Still, by defeating Vidi Wijaya in the finals and sporting a 3-0 record in what may be the toughest Vs. draft pod in history, Bernstein has shown that he has enough natural skill to take down a completely new format. In two weeks, there is a Pro Circuit in Los Angeles, and this format will be put on the back burner for a while. That doesn’t lessen the significance of this win, though—thoroughly dominating a tournament is no small feat. Also, remember that JLA Draft will be the format for PC Atlanta, and those who did well today will certainly be favorites to take home the prize there. For now, though, congratulations to Adam Bernstein, winner of $10K Wizard World Texas and the first player in Vs. history to be both a PC and a $10K champion!

The players were both tired after a long day and wasted no time in starting this, the final match of the tournament.
Two Vs. System giants duke it out for their chance at the trophy!
These competitors played each other in Round 10, and Neil blew Adam out of the water. Adam’s got a chance to even the score right now, but for the loser of this match, there will be no second chances.
John Hall is a Tulsa OK native and a member of The Dream Team. This was his first Top 8 appearance at a major event.
Neil went into the draft trying to force Injustice Gang—not a popular strategy, to say the least. Following are Neil’s picks.
Pat McCavana is a Kansas City MO native who needed to win all three of his matches to make Top 8. His opponent is Michael Barnes, Pro Circuit New York Top 8 competitor and member of the illustrious Oklahoma-based “Dream Team.”
Neil won the die roll and chose . . . evens?! Something’s up!
Erik and I have a history. He’s beaten me in the last round of two major events. I told him that this coverage is my revenge, so I’m sure he’s under serious pressure to perform.
“I am so terrible,” said Nick. “Why didn’t I attack Zauriel first? Maybe if I played correctly once in a while, I wouldn’t be such a constant embarrassment to myself and those around me.”
A Metagame.com guest reporter brings you some bonus coverage of Round 9!
In this first round of the Top 24, we once again have two Pro Circuit winners paired against each other.
The top pod at today's $10K event is quite possibly the best draft pod ever assembled in the history of Vs. System.
At the end of eight rounds, a hundred competitors have been pared down to twenty-four.
Day 1
We revisit Doug Tice in the final round of Day 1. His opponent, Osas Odemwingie, is a local player also battling for a spot in Day 2.
they shuffled up, Ryan lamented the quality of his deck: “Maybe he has 29 cards . . . my only chance of winning.”
Both of these players are almost certainly guaranteed a berth in the Top 24, but a few more wins will do them one better and get them a spot in the Top 8.
Two Pro Circuit winners, each with one loss apiece. The winner remains safe for another round; the loser risks elimination. Read on to see who's who!
For this second round of deck construction, I join Doug Tice, all-around great player and winner of one of the three previous North American Sealed Pack $10K events.
Round 4’s top table features a match between two great players. Ryan Jones is a Pro Circuit winner, and Erik Cabanero is a consistent money finisher at both PC and $10K events.
Adam Horvath, the Martian Manhunter, has a Pro Circuit win and a second place $10K finish to his name. Vidianto Wijaya has multiple Pro Circuit Top 8 finishes and is a fixture in competitive Vs. play.
Read all about Ryan's opinions on the new set!
Each of these players has a $10K victory to his name. Tim took down a Golden Age tournament, while Nick won one of the three previous North American Sealed Pack events.
Niles Rowland is an up-and-coming player from Las Vegas. His opponent, Michael Richards, is a local player from Bedford, Texas.
One of the more recognizable professional players at the $10K today is Neil Reeves, but he has yet to see a single card in the Justice League of America set.
Hear Nick's thoughts on the new set in Sealed Pack play!
It’s said that Sealed Pack is a very skill intensive format, and drafting with a set that no one has much experience with might be the greatest test of natural skill that Vs. has to offer.
