The competitors for this round were Hesed Palma Balmas Brangel and Gibran Balmas Brangel. That’s right, two brothers faced off! Both had 6-1 records. Hesed was playing Common Enemy, while Gibran was running Evil Medical School.
Hesed began with the initiative and played his Boris against Gibran’s Alfred Pennyworth. Next turn, Gibran recruited a GCPD Officer, sent Alfred looking for a Bat-Signal, and replayed Alfred. Hesed had nothing in response, though Boris took it to Alfred in a stunning Old Man Fight.
Hesed got some power going on turn 3, when he recruited She-Hulk backed by the initiative. A Robot Sentry took up a position next to Alfred, who promptly ran like hell to fetch Fizzle before hiding behind the Robot. She-Hulk swung on the Sentry, the Officer Bat-Signaled for Dr. Doom, and that was the turn.
Next turn, Alfred fetched a Reign of Terror, and Gibran quickly used it to bump She-Hulk away after recruiting Dr. Doom. His effect flipped Bat-Signal back down. She-Hulk was re-recruited, Doom let loose on her, and both characters stunned. GCPD went after Boris but he was powered-up, and the Officer went down and was lost!
Hesed smiled and shook his head on turn 5, as his recruit was She-Thing. Gibran recruited Shimmer, Dr. Hauptmann, Alfred, and Boris. She-Thing smacked Hauptmann for a bit of breakthrough endurance loss, She-Hulk wailed on Alfred, and Gibran used his combat to smash Boris with Doom.
Turn 6 saw Gibran team up completely and Bat-Signal for Dr. Light, who quickly hit the field. Hesed had nothing, and Shimmer exhausted his board. All of Hesed’s characters were systematically dismantled, and to add insult to injury, a Press the Attack readied Dr. Light to make a second attack.
However, Hesed had an equalizer, and he recruited Thing, The Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing on turn 7! In response to his own effect, he played Have a Blast! On one of his brother’s teamups, but was stymied by a Fizzle. Still on the chain, Alfred and Boris both ran to dig for plot twists: Bat-Signal and Mystical Paralysis respectively. After their resolution, the Robot Sentry activated to Bat-Signal for another Dr. Light, and finally Thing’s scare tactics resolved. Gibran re-recruited almost everything—Alfred, two GCPD Officers, Shimmer, and Robot Sentry filled his side of the table, and Mystical Paralysis nailed Thing. She-Hulk took a chunk out of a GCPD Officer, and that was the turn.
Gibran recruited Dr. Doom, Lord of Latveria next turn, and though Hesed had a Silver Surfer he knew it was over. Hesed scooped to his brother and Gibran Balmas Brangel won the match.
Game Win: Gibran Balmas Brangel |
