$10K Columbus
Metagame Staff

In Jericho, the walls fell. In Columbus, he did not. While not as well known to Vs. System audiences as fellow Top 8 participants Rob Leander and Alex Tennet, Gabe Walls is a star to the rest of the TCG world. In case there is any doubt, he announced today with his claiming of the first prize at $10K Columbus that he is here to stay.

Walls took the honors with a 2-0 victory over artist and deck designer extraordinaire Jason Hager, whose Evil Medical School deck shocked a field that came in expecting Curve Sentinel dominance. What they got instead was a Top 8 that included seven different archetypes, none of which were based on the My Beloved deck that Tim Batow piloted to victory last week in Vegas.

Before beating Hager, Walls had to take on fellow TCG pro Aaron Brieder in the quarterfinals, and then travel companion Kyle Montgomery’s purple machines in the semis. With Columbus over, most competitive players are looking forward to Orlando, but Walls is happy lingering in the now. After all, he’s got the spoils. Congratulations to Gabe Walls, $10K Columbus Champion!
