For the top 8 draft, I’ll be covering the best player on the planet, Vidianto Wijaya. In previous drafts, the Kree decks more or less blew out the competition, so I think that we can expect an inordinate amount of Kree drafters here. Vidi, of course, is certainly one of those players who prefers to take Kree. This should turn out to be an interesting draft. The first card listed on each line is Vidi’s pick. The others are interesting cards he passed.
Pack 1
Dr. Minerva, Extended Family, Kindred Spirits
Captain Att-Lass; Captain America, Skrull Impostor; Battleworld
Sworn Enemies, Penal Colony, Divinity, Arsenal of Doom
Pressed into Service; Mind Gem; The Herald Ordeal; Sub-Mariner, Illuminati
Universal Weapon; Silver Surfer, Skyrider of the Spaceways
Warskrull, Conquered Planet, Attilan
Supremor
Remnant Fleet, Intergalactic Summit
The Power Cosmic Unleashed, Planet Weapon
Ethan Edwards
Cosmic Necessity
Alpha Primitives
Moondragon, Nega-Bomb
Mr. Sinister
Vidi’s first- and second-pick press characters certainly indicate that he wants to go Kree, but the remaining cards he picked up don’t really make it seem like he’ll be able to go that route.
Pack 2
Armageddon; Hala; Dr. Doom, Richards’s Rival
Hala, Nahrees, Warskrull
Paibok, Technarx
Improper Burial; Magneto, Acts of Vengeance; Elite Doom Guards; Sintariis
Kree Public Accusers; Destroyer, Harbinger of Devastation; Adam Warlock
Destroyer, Soulless Juggernaut; Battleworld
Kree Soldiers, Mind Gem
Sentry #459
Talla Ron
Galan
Stardust
The Fallen One
Destroyer, Harbinger of Devastation
Taskmaster
This pack seemed to be particularly poor after the first four picks, yielding Vidi neither the press cards critical to a Kree archetype nor any tricks to speak of. At this point, it seems that Vidi is solidly Kree/Skrull/Heralds—an interesting combination.
Pack 3
Admiral Galen Kor, Interstellar Offensive, The Kyln
Gamora, Pressed into Service, Sworn Enemies
Wolverine, Skrunucklehead; Relentless Onslaught
Kree Soldiers; Ronan the Accuser, Supreme Public Accuser; Ronan the Accuser, Starforce
Arsenal of Doom; Conquered Planet; Human Torch, The Invisible Man; The Punishers
Mar-Vell ◊ Captain Marvel, Soldier of the Empire
Luna Maximoff, Cosmic Order, Ethan Edwards
Destroyer, Harbinger of Devastation; Penal Colony; Kree Public Accusers
The Punishers
Galactus, The Maker; Intergalactic Summit
Ronan the Accuser, Supreme Public Accuser
Dinu
Mask of Doom
Vidi: “I dunno . . . I think I was forcing too hard. I should have switched to Heralds ASAP. I guess I just wanted to go Kree. There was just nothing coming . . . lots of support stuff, but no characters for Kree. If I were Heralds, my deck would have been the nut high.”
On picking up a Warskrull: “I guess I took this guy too high. I was hoping to get an Act of Defiance, but it just didn’t happen.”
Hala: “This card is Rann in my deck.”
As Vidi assembled his disaster of a deck, he continued to lament not being in Heralds. “I could have had maybe five of these, with all the copies of Galactus I need, as well,” he said, pointing out Destroyer, Harbinger of Devastation. There’s not much else to be said about Vidi’s deck—it is what it is.
