The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 6: Richard Bradley vs. Adam Prosak
Anand Khare

In this round, we visit recent Pro Circuit champion Adam Prosak. He’s not doing so hot today; with a record of 3-2, he needs to win the remainder of his matches to make Day 2. His opponent, Richard Bradley, is a Jacksonville native who drove up for the weekend. Adam won the die roll and selected the odd initiatives. Richard kept his opener, but Adam tossed his first four away.

On the first turn of the game, Adam flipped and used Tamaranian Garden to trade a Timber Wolf for Cassie Sandsmark ◊ Wonder Woman, Titans Tomorrow West. Richard had no play, but he recruited Bette Kane ◊ Batwoman. Adam had Parademon Elite. Richard attacked in . . . and was brickwalled. Adam attacked back past the stunned Bette. On turn 3, Adam recruited Dark Thanagarian, giving Parademon Elite +2 ATK before substituting out Dark Firestorm to draw a card. Richard had Lashina in his support row. In combat, Adam sent Dark Firestorm into Lashina with a power-up, and Lashina was stunned. The 2-drops traded, and Bette was lost in recovery. Adam led, 48-38.

For his fourth turn play, Richard recruited Connor Kent ◊ Superboy, Inspiration to the Legion. Adam recruited Glorith in front of Parademon Elite. Richard sent 4-drop into 4-drop, and Adam used United Planets HQ to reinforce. Lashina stunned Parademon Elite, and neither player had additional attacks. The Elite were lost in recovery, and Adam maintained a 41-34 lead.

On turn 5, Adam recruited Computo, Rogue Program. He used his HQ to crossover Darkseid’s Elite and Future Foes, then substituted out Beast Boy, Party Animal. Richard recruited Tim Drake ◊ Batman, Titans Tomorrow West in front of Connor. In combat, Beast traded stuns with Connor, and Glorith stunned Lashina. Computo attacked Tim with For Khundia!, netting Adam some card advantage. However, Adam’s Garden was replaced by Batman’s ability. In recovery, Richard’s Batman faced down Adam’s Glorith and Computo. Adam still led, 33-19.

Turn 6 was Richard’s initiative. He recruited Cassie Sandsmark ◊ Wonder Woman, Titans Tomorrow West and pushed both of his characters to the front. Adam had Mordru ◊ The Merciless behind Glorith. In combat, Richard sent Cassie into Computo. The 5-drop stunned. Batman attacked Glorith, and the 4-drop was stunned. Before attacking back, Adam paid 7 endurance in a bid to get a 7-drop out of Richard’s hand. He succeeded, noting a 5- and 6-drop remaining. Back to combat, Mordru attacked Batman, stunning the 5-drop. In recovery, Glorith was KO’d. Adam’s lead was now very slight—only 12-11.

On turn 7, Adam under-dropped with Ra’s Al Ghul, Engine of Change and Dark Lantern, targeting Ra’s. Richard recruited Colossal Boy ◊ Leviathan and kept all three of his characters in the front row. In combat, Adam used his HQ to team-up Darkseid’s Elite and Future Foes. He attempted to remove Colossal Boy’s affiliation with Ra’s, but Richard discarded the last card in his hand. Adam team attacked Richard with Dark Lantern and Mordru, stunning it. Computo took down Tim Drake. Finally, Ra’s Al Ghul attacked Cassie with Chain Lightning, Dark Fury, and Five Against One. This was more than enough ATK pump to seal up the game.
