The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 3: Orry Suen vs. Samuel Chua
Noel Neo

Orry ranks third in Sealed Pack in Asia, whilst Samuel used to work for Comics Mart, the leading local store for comics and TCGs. Both players are currently at 2-0 and are hoping to end the first Sealed Pack of the day with a perfect record.

Samuel won the die roll opted for the odd initiative. Both players sent their initial hands back.

Turn 1:

Samuel had nothing, while Orry played The Shark.

Turn 2:

Orry recruited Tomar Tu, and Samuel recruited G’nort. Tomar Tu smacked the smaller G’nort without fear of reprisal.

(Orry 50 – Samuel 47)

Turn 3:

Samuel recruited Carol Ferris Star Sapphire, which Orry mirrored. Both came into play visible. On Orry’s side of the table, Tomar Tu protected The Shark, which Carol Ferris stood beside. Her doppelganger with Samuel was in front of G’Nort.

Carol Ferris took down Tomar Tu, and G’Nort netted himself The Shark. Orry swung Carol into G’Nort once the initiative passed to him.

The Shark got thrown overboard.

(Orry 47 – Samuel 46)

Turn 4:

Both players had Rot Lop Fan. Tomar Tu was the front row for Orry, and Carol Ferris protected G’Nort for Samuel.

Carol Ferris swung into G’Nort, and for a payment of 2 endurance, Tomar Tu went after Rot Lop Fan with some Living Ink. Samuel responded by flipping No Man Escapes the Manhunters and Blood in the Dark to reduce the impact of Living Ink. Orry would not be denied, however, and played Yellow Impurity for the double stun. Rot Lop Fan finished the job by taking Carol Ferris out of action.

When the dust cleared, Samuel was left with a single Rot Lop Fan holding the fort.

(Orry 43 – Samuel 36)

Turn 5:

Samuel recruited Remoni-Notra Star Sapphire, and Orry recruited Major Force. Both of Samuel’s characters stood aggressively in the front, while Tomar Tu protected Rot Lop Fan and Carol Ferris protected Major Force for Orry.

Rot Lop Fan swung into Major Force with an Uppercut, and Orry flipped Empire of Tears, KO’ing Tomar Tu and Carol Ferris. Orry activated the location, but Samuel had Yellow Impurity to push the double stun though.

Remoni-Notra swung into the last character left on Orry’s board for another mutual stun.

Orry was left with Major Force, whilst Samuel had Remoni-Notra.

(Orry 31 – Samuel 27)

Turn 6:

Orry got Major Disaster, Arisia, and Hector Hammond. Samuel had to be content with the larger Boodikka, who hid behind Remoni-Notra’s skirts.

Major Force hit Remoni-Notra with a pump from Empire of Tears, and Remoni-Notra stunned. The rest of Orry’s team ganged up on Boodikka to end the turn.

Major Disaster and Remoni-Notra were lost.

(Orry 29 – Samuel 13)

Turn 7:

Samuel played Kreon and Owlman, putting Kreon behind Boodikka. This couldn’t quite matchup against Orry’s recruited Ultraman.

Into the attack step, Samuel exhausted Kreon to play Rain of Acorns on Ultraman.

Boodikka made the supposedly safe attack into Major Force, but Orry responded by activating Empire of Tears to give the Major +2 ATK/+2 DEF. He then flipped a second, opting to KO two resources as part of the cost to make Major Foce14 ATK/14 DEF. Fortunately, Samuel had Golden Death in backup and was still able to achieve the double stun.

Samuel then flew Owlman into Arisia and passed the initiative. Orry preferred not to chance attacking, and they proceeded to turn 8.

Orry lost Arisia.

(Orry 23 – Samuel 7)

Turn 8:

Orry recruited Solomon Grundy, and Samuel had Tomar Tu and Supermanhunter.

Ultraman declared a Thunderous Onslaught on Supermanhunter, bringing Samuel down to 1 endurance.

Samuel conceded, and Orry Suen took the game.
