After weeks of speculation about what the new banning and errata would do to the Golden Age environment, we finally have some data that lets us know what a post-Overload/Rama-Tut format looks like. And the winner is . . . undecided. This brave new world has lead to a relative smoothing in the numbers of tier one decks, with The New Brotherhood and Teen Titans making the most gains, as predicted. One archetype that has definitely earned its place on tier one is the Green Lantern/Emerald Enemies deck, the most prolific variation of which is the New Zealand-inspired “Kiwi.”But the great news is that this looks like the most balanced Golden Age format since its inception, with Curve, Control, Combo, and Beatdown decks all being represented in force. As usual, there are a fair amount of unique decks in the field—time will tell whether they will be able to become the next Golden Age sensation or the fleeting dream of its deckbuilder.
