The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

$10K Manila 2006
Metagame Staff

$10K Manila 2006 will down in the annals as the Day of the Amateur!

Self-professed amateur Arvin Jesus De Leon has emerged on top with a janky deck that flies smack in the face of conventional Sealed Pack wisdom. Playing a thirty-seven-card concoction that runs only twenty-one characters from eight different affiliations, Arvin somehow managed to pull off one of the greatest upsets in $10K history!

His match against finalist Domingo was a breathtaking endurance race to the finish. With both players in the negatives and Domingo leading by a good 11 points, Arvin managed to gain 16 endurance before the end of turn to snatch the victory away from a stunned Domingo.

For those seeking to emulate Arvin, he has only this to say: “Trust your gut!”

Congratulations to Arvin Jesus De Leon, $10K Manila 2006 Champion!

But wait—Arvin wasn’t budging from his seat, nor was he congratulating his opponent . . .
The crowd waited with baited breath for Andrew to flip one last ATK pump and use Roy Harper ◊ Arsenal, Knight’s ability to stun The Calculator. The tension built up . . . and exploded . . .!
Once again, Domingo’s opening play was Cheetah. But this time, Bertram had Chay-Ara ◊ Hawkgirl to oppose her.

Of the original Top 8 from $10K Manila 2005, Domingo is the only player who has repeated the feat today.
Bertram chose the odd initiatives and had a fast start, beginning with Connie Webb on turn 1.
Bertram chose the odd initiatives, and Day 2 began with Bertram recruiting Zazzala ◊ Queen Bee, Mistress of the Hive in the concealed area.
With a current record of 7-1 that puts him second in the standings, Bertram looks well poised to earn a spot in the Top 8.
Both players are currently at 5-2 and need one last win to secure themselves a spot in Day 2.
Arvin claims that he is an amateur who has never even played in a PCQ before!
The winner here not only gets to keep his boasting rights, but he would also finish Day 1 with a guaranteed Top 8 spot.
It’s the first game of the second pod and both players are still holding on to perfect records.
Mon's format of choice is really Constructed, but he made an exception for the $10K event.
In the last round of the first Sealed pod, both players held on to their perfect records through sheer grit and determination. Now, only one of them will emerge from the pod unscathed.
Andrew began playing Vs. System during DC Origins. A fan of DC Comics, he said that playing the game came naturally to him since he already enjoyed the comics so much.
We were in for a slow game, as neither player had any plays until turn 3.
Dominic and Philip seem to know one another pretty well. But once the game kicked off, you could see each player focusing on the game at hand.
One of Asia’s highest ranking Sealed Pack players, Dominic Ortega proved himself an all-arounder when he took home the trophy from last year’s Marvel Modern Age $10K Manila.
Today, the atmosphere is boisterous.
