The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Draft Profile: David Fielder
Ben Kalman

David Fielder has successfully flown under the radar and into position to make the Top 8. Hailing from Toronto, Fielder finished 70th at PC Indy after a minor Day 2 meltdown. He’s certainly going to finish a lot higher here, as he needs only a 1-2 record in the final three rounds to make it in to the Top 8. If he does make it in, he’s hoping to see a lot of Teen Titans—his Gotham Knights curve deck (created by his friend, Donald Andrew Grant) apparently tests an 80-20 margin against it.

In this draft, David made some interesting decisions while choosing his cards. He passed Nice Try! for Iceman, believing that there aren’t enough plot twists effected by it in Web of Spider-Man to make it worthwhile. As for Iceman, he’s one of David’s favorite 6-drops in the set. “There’s so little range in this set. Iceman and Solo are about it for Spider-Friends. The ability to stick a 6-drop behind someone is too good to pass up.”

He drafted Spider-Friends because he feels they’re simply the best team. His deck didn’t turn out quite as well as he thought it might, however. “I’m a little disappointed in certain aspects of this deck, namely the 4-drops! The 4 slot could definitely be a little better.”

He also selected to play Ezekiel as his only 7-drop, leaving Tri-Sentinel aside. “As 7–drops go, Tri-Sentinel is really just a big 6-drop. I’m sorry I didn’t take the Sentinel Mark V I saw, but I’ll use Scorpion with boost on turn 7, if necessary.”

David does like Web of Spider-Man for Draft; he feels that DC Origins is the worst drafting environment in the Vs. System. That feeling doesn’t echo with the majority of players, who seem to prefer anything over Spider-Man. “Twist, Alley-Oop! . . . they all make Spider-Man better. DC is just ‘I attack you. Turn. You attack me. Turn.’”

Hopefully, his love of Spider-Man will pay off, and he’ll overcome his 4-drop “issues” to break in into the Top 8!
