Dylan “docx” Northrup took a little poll to see how the top tables changed from Round 1 to Round 5. According to Dylan’s figures, the decks at the top forty-three tables during round 1 were as follows:
Good Guys: 35
Checkmate variants (using the Ahmed Samsarra engine): 33
Other: 18
Contrast this to the decks at the same forty-three tables during round 5:
Good Guys: 23
Checkmate variants: 28
Other: 35
Even though Good Guys and Checkmate variants were the most popular decks at the Pro Circuit, it appears that the clever deckbuilders who were able to find ways to beat those decks are having more success. It will be interesting to see if the predicted powerhouses Good Guys and Checkmate will rise to the top, or if rogue decks will usurp their places at the top of the DC Modern Age metagame.
