The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 7: Domingo Charlman vs. Edgar Leroy De Pedro
Noel Neo

There was a howl of approval from the crowd as this feature match was announced. These players are apparently hugely popular in the local gaming community.

There was none of the usual pre-game banter as they sit waiting for the start of round to be announced. Both players instead quietly contemplated their plans for the game ahead. Once the start of the round was announced, the players got down to business. Edgar won the die roll and opted for the odd initiative. Both players kept their opening hands.

Both players were extremely professional and efficient. Edgar, in particular, has a habit of calling out the phases briskly in rather crisp English. It's almost as though he was trying to remind himself of the phases, though it may well be that it is to ensure his opponent cannot claim ignorance later.

Edgar opened the game with a first turn Orb, which he used in order to improve his card quality. Charlman followed with Werewolf by Night on turn 2, which Edgar mirrored. Both players ended the round with 3 fewer endurance as Edgar used Orb to pump his Werewolf.

Edgar played Wild Ride for Dagger, which he discarded for Midnight Sons on turn 3. He proceeded to recruit Elektra, Elektra Natchios. On the other side of the table, Brother Voodoo was pulled from the deck by Wild Ride, and came into play.

Edgar's Werewolf swung up into Brother Voodoo with Hell's Fury, while Elektra followed for another devastating 7 points of endurance loss. Charlman answered back with a miserly2 points of endurance loss.

Centurious came down on Charlman's side while Luke Cage appeared for Edgar on turn 4. Charlman swung everything into Edgar, and let rip with everything he had. He flipped Hell's Fury and two Crime and Punishments to bring Edgar down to 16 endurance.

However, Edgar was able to mount a counter-offensive, with Elektra landing a Flying Kick in Centurious's gut for a double stun. Luke Cage swung down into the exposed Brother Voodoo, while the Werewolf took another chunk out of Charlman's endurance total. The turn ended with Charlman at 14 endurance and Edgar at 13.

Turn 5 seemed to be the final turn and both players spent quite some time thinking about what to play. In the end, Blade found his place on both sides of the table. With the close endurance totals, it seems that the advantage was with Edgar, who had the initiative. The question was, it is enough for him to carry the game.

Elektra teamed up with Werewolf to take down the dangerous Centurious, while Luke Cage took out Blade by the skin of his teeth. When Edgar proposed to attack Charlman directly with Blade, Charlman acknowledged that his was a lost cause.

Edgar takes the game.
