The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Round 5: Ryan Jones vs. Jeremy Pinter
Anand Khare

These players are both undefeated going into the fifth round. Ryan Jones is a well-known Pro Circuit winner and Jeremy is a Michigan player with a handful of money finishes. Jeremy won the die roll and selected the even initiatives.

Both players kept their openers, and neither had a first turn play. Jeremy kicked things off with Sarge Steel, while Ryan had Captain Att-Lass. The characters traded stuns. On turn 3, Ryan recruited The Calculator, Evil Oracle. He flipped Coercion to team up with Kree, and passed. Jeremy had the predictable Ahmed Samsarra, and passed. The Calculator attacked Sarge Steel with a power-up; Jeremy had Threat Neutralized to force the stun-back. Captain Att-Lass attacked directly. Ahmed attacked back, stunning Att-Lass. In recovery, Ryan played No Mercy to return Att-Lass and KO Sarge Steel. Jeremy led, 41-38.

On turn 4, Jeremy had Bizarro, Me AM Bizarro #1. Ah . . . such a predictable deck. Such a relief. Ryan re-played Att-lass, and immediately returned him using Baddest of the Bad to search out Dr. Minerva. He recruited the 2-drop for a single resource point, and picked up another copy of herself with her ability. Next, Ryan recruited Commander Dylon Cir. He set both of his visible characters in the support row and passed. In combat, Jeremy sent Bizarro into Minerva. Ryan played Live Kree . . . or Die!, and reinforced with his 3-drop. Jeremy used Ahmed to search out a Checkmate Safe House, and passed. Ryan attacked directly for 5 and then returned Dr. Minerva to his hand for another No Mercy. In recovery, Ryan led 40-32.

Ryan replayed Dr. Minerva on turn 5, netting a Nenora. Next, Att-Lass came out to play. Ryan played another Baddest of the Bad, again bouncing Minerva. This time he searched for Reaper, Vampire Armageddon. Minerva was re-recruited, finding Admiral Galen Kor. Reaper came out to play, and was followed up by an alternate-cost Nenora. Ryan passed. Jeremy recruited Maxwell Lord, Black King, and passed right back. Ryan sent Reaper into Maxwell, and played another Live Kree . . . or Die! to give his 4-drop a total of 17 ATK. Jeremy had another Threat Neutralized to save himself a point of breakthrough. Ryan declared a direct team attack with the rest of his characters and a Flying Kick. This was exactly enough to bring Jeremy to 0, so he extended the hand.
