David Weitz was playing the FF/Doom deck that took multiple berths in yesterday‘s Top 8. He was unable to play yesterday since he was part of the event staff. Jason Dawson was with The Big Brotherhood. Jason and Eric Wood introduced the deck to the world when they both made the Top 8 at the Convention Championship in Phialdephia. Eric repeated his Top 8 performance yesterday but Jason fell short. Whoever wins this round and the finals will walk away with a piece of comic book history that is valued at over $5,000. Jason clapped his hands together and rolled for choice, “Let’s rock!”
Game one
David won the roll and announced, “I’ll give you initiative.” Both players shipped back their opening hands. David played Boris on turn two and Jason put Toad up front and smashed it real good. Mystique and Darkoth were the products of the third turn.
On turn four Dave rolled his eyes as he put a She-Thing on the front lines. Jason had no play and had to sit back as David beat up on his characters. He had Magneto for turn five and looked to be in great position when Dave had only a She-Hulk. Jason flipped up Lost City and discarded two Magnetos while attacking Boris. Dave was reeling and his hand was atrocious and he attempted to buy another turn by Flame Trapping his Boris--pitching two She-Things. Magneto readied and Jason had an Avalon Space Station to pound the Magneto in Darkoth’s direction.
David survived long enough to see two more cards. They offered him nothing and they moved onto the next game.

Game two
The early game looked about evenly matched with David and Jason making the appropriate drops up to turn four. On turn five David’s deck bailed on him again and he once again played She-Hulk after Jason had Magneto. The sixth turn was even worse.
David played his sixth resource looked Jason in the eye and announced, “I’ll pass.”
“No play? Sweet.”
“This is unreal.” Jason, on the other hand, had a six-drop Mystique. David tried to find an attack but Jason gave him a taste of his own medicine when he used the Savage Beatdown/Overload combo to smoke David’s Dr. Doom--David had been pulling off that stunt all afternoon. David laid down his hand of Plot Twists that he needed to be five and six-drops and congratulated Jason and wished him luck in the finals.
Final result: Jason Dawson defeated David Weitz two games to none and advanced to the finals to compete for a copy of X-Men #1 worth at least $5,000.
