 Ryosuke Kato is one of the younger players in the field, but that’s not keeping him from racking up two wins in the first three rounds. This is his second tournament appearance since he discovered Vs. System.
How did you get interested in Vs. System?
I was looking for a new game. A friend showed me two games, one of which was Vs. System. I’m interested in American comic books so I chose Vs. System.
Do you think Vs. System will become more popular with younger players in Japan?
Well, a lot of my friends have seen movies like Batman and X-Men. We’re looking forward to the X-Men expansion.
How are you doing so far today?
Not bad.
What teams are you playing?
I’ve got JLI and Secret Society.
What’s your strategy with your deck?
I’ve been relying on Batman and Rocket Red #4. My favorite character in this deck is 5-drop Scarecrow.
Have you found any good combos?
Funky’s Big Rat Code and Slaughter Swamp are pretty good.
What’s your plan for your second deck?
I’m going with JLI and Secret Society again, and trying to get a lot of team attacks.
What do you like most about Vs. System?
I have to use my head a lot more than with other games. I have fun whether I win or lose.
What will you do with the prize money if you win the tournament?
Buy a case of boosters!
