The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

$10K Hamilton
Metagame Staff

He did it! Michael Jacob has just taken Ivy League to an unprecedented fourth $10K win! After a grueling three-hour final match, Michael finally cinched the title by locking Maximilien Bouchard out of the game on turn 6. This tournament was the last hurrah for Justice League of Arkham, but it’s just the latest in Michael Jacob’s string of impressive finishes.

Michael wasn’t alone in taking an interesting deck to the Top 8; five other archetypes were present, including two that debuted in this tournament. Silver Age is more open than anyone could have imagined, and one can only hope that the upcoming Pro Circuit will have a metagame that is just as healthy. Already, the testing for Indy has begun . . . testing that certainly won’t include the dominating discard of Justice League of Arkham. Congratulations to Michael Jacob, winner of $10K Hamilton!

This match pits Maximilien Bouchard of Team AttaQc against Michael Jacob of The Donkey Club.
The players wished each other luck and surveyed their hands. Both players kept. Predictably, they both missed on the first turn.
In this quarterfinal match, Maximilien’s Mental deck faced up against Nicolas’s Wrecking Crew combo deck.
The most spectacularly diverse metagame ever has yielded an extremely unusual Top 8.
These players are friends from Ottawa. But one of them goes home today; the winner will make Top 8, and the loser will not.
These players are both Americans visiting Canada for some weekend $10K action.
The players are sitting at table 1 this round, and Michael is the only undefeated player.
You’ll note that while this lunch is representative of the well-established chicken finger archetype, it’s been teched out with a lemon wedge, a basil leaf, and a container of what was described to me as “plum sauce.”
Both of these players are from Toronto. They each have one prior $10K Top 8 from the previous $10K Toronto.
You want variety? You got it. Players have tried pretty much every viable, semi-viable, and not-even-close-to-viable team combination for this event.
These players are from the same Toronto store, and they’re both undefeated going into the fifth round.
Michael Jacob needs no introduction. Devin is a local player from London, Ontario. This is his first $10K, and he’s 3-0 going into this round.
Maximilien is a frequent Pro Circuit contender. He has two $10K Top 8s to his name and he’s looking to add a third. This is Andrew’s first Constructed $10K.
Loren is a seasoned Vs. professional, equally recognizable for his win at $10K Detroit as for his extremely stylish hair. David is just as experienced on the $10K scene, but not as a player—he’s head-judged two $10K events so far.
Dan Clark is a player from Michigan’s RIW Hobbies who Michael Jacob credits as the original inventor of the X-Faces deck. Wes is a local player without any major finishes to his name.
Ninety-six players have come to Hamilton, Ontario to re-break the Silver Age format.
