The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017
While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Sealed Pack Analysis: Benzie Dio |

Benzie Dio taught me English Literature for two years in Junior College, so doing this interview gave me a sense of dejà vu. It reminded me of the many hours we spent in musty classrooms discussing Ishiguro’s “An Artist of the Floating World” and “Phillip Larkin.”
For Benzie, creativity is an important trait to have for Sealed Pack. He feels that creativity makes a difference, even when you get bad cards. This is because Sealed Pack is rather disparate, making it difficult to construct. Therefore, you need creativity to see the connections between cards, even those you don’t usually picture together.
This was the card pool Benzie had in the tournament:
Benzie’s Sealed Pool
Chomin
2 Creeping Doom David Clinton, Chronos ◊ The Time Thief Illusionary Warriors IQ Lex Luthor, Evil Incorporated Prometheus Tattooed Man, Living Ink The General
Aquaman, Arthur Curry Elongated Man Faith 2 Katar Hol ◊ Hawkman Red Tornado Shayera Thal ◊ Hawkwoman
Booster Gold Captain Marvel Crimson Fox Dinah Laurel Lance ◊ Black Canary, Blonde Bombshell L-Ron Metamorpho Rocket Red Scott Free ◊ Mister Miracle, Man of a Thousand Escapes Silver Sorceress Tasmanian Devil Ted Kord ◊ Blue Beetle
Valkyra
Captain Cold Charaxes, Killer Moth Crystal Frost ◊ Killer Frost Floronic Man, Jason Woodrue Hector Hammond, Mind Over Matter Henry King ◊ Brainwave Poison Ivy, Kiss of Death Remoni-Notra ◊ Star Sapphire, Zamoran Champion The Wizard Ultra-Humanite
Dr. Destiny Felix Faust Queen of Fables Tomorrow Woman

Balance of Power Bulletproof Counterterrorism Criminal Mastermind Death Times Five Die for Darkseid! Funeral For a Friend Glass Jaw Magnificent Seven Mysterious Benefactor Not on My Watch Plasma Blast Rallying Cry Resistance is Useless Shake it Off Sorcerer’s Treasure Staged Attack Wheel of Misfortune World’s Greatest Heroes
Bezie felt his pool was rather weak, with no real bombs. He needed to find a means of reusing cards, like Sorcerer’s Treasure. The dearth of good plot twists also meant he needed to use underrated defensive plot twists, like Shake it Off and Balance of Power.
Benzie’s Deck

Tomorrow Woman

Balance of Power Glass Jaw Magnificent Seven Plasma Blast Rallying Cry Shake it Off Sorcerer’s Treasure
Benzie’s plan with this deck was to go for the late game. Many of his plot twists were defensive in nature, allowing him to bounce back into the game when an opponent’s attack failed.
One point he was sore about was that he was only playing a single team-up card, which also had pretty stringent flip requirements. However, he was quite happy with the quality of his characters, as well as the fact that his deck was rather focused on two affiliations. |
